Believe it or not, there’s an actual “beanie festival” that takes place in Australia. As you might expect, the festival focuses on showcasing some of the most bizarre beanie creations ever created (just because).
According to Metro UK, the 20th annual Alice Springs Beanie Festival kicked off on June 24 with a load of never-before-seen beanies that most people probably wouldn’t even wear if you paid them. But there was one particular beanie that stood out to festival goers — and it wasn’t for a good reason.
It turns out some genius actually crafted a beanie out of pure human facial hair… Yup, I’m itching just thinking about it!
A tweet displaying a photo of the atrocious sight highlighted that this hair beanie was just one of 6,047 entries. Damn, that’s a lot of beanies and clearly not all of them are wearable. I mean, could you imagine walking around with this thing on your head:

I can’t. Not for a second. But hey, to each his own!
In a recent report regarding the Alice Springs Beanie Festival, ABC Australia revealed,
The community-based event began in 1997 when a group of friends decided to hold a “beanie party”. The group taught Aboriginal women in remote communities the art of knitting and crocheting. The beanies created were sold in town and the profits went back to the community.
Well, I guess I can’t hate on the beard beanie too much if it’s being used to support communities in need… But it’s still pretty damn gross!
